MISSION STATEMENT

The Metro Minor Hockey League is committed to providing a positive hockey experience for players, coaches and parents, based on the principles of sportsmanship, skill development, equal ice time, and fair play.

The MMHL Executive Committee, in cooperation with participating Minor Hockey Associations, must ensure team balance, in order to provide a fair and competitive environment in which the players can participate. It is also essential that coaches and managers abide by the Hockey Nova Scotia Minor Council Code of Ethics, and display the highest standards of personal integrity, competence, sound judgment and direction.

Also it is of the utmost importance that all players, coaches and parents show respect for the officials. Please remember, without the officials, games cannot be played.

Game Schedules

The only official schedule is the one posted on the MMHL website.

Coaches, players and parents should check the site regularly before games, as sometimes the schedule will change based on participating Associations’ ice time requests/issues and also for rescheduled games. Every effort however will be made not to change the schedule once posted. Most changes are the result of requests from associations to rescheduled games in order to make the most efficient use of ice time.

The schedule is comprised of approximately 32-36 games per team (except for Atom) and a Championship weekend held late in March. This year, the MMHL has teams registered  in Atom, PeeWee, Bantam, Midget and Minor Junior made up from eight different Minor Hockey Associations.

ATOM & PEEWEE - The first round of Atom and PeeWee games will be completed by the Christmas break. Based on those standings, the teams at each level will be divided into 2 divisions for the Playoffs. The top 4 teams in each division at the end of the playoffs will play in the MMHL Championship Weekend on March 26-28/2010 at TASA Smith Smith Ice. There will be 2 Championships at each level.

BANTAM - The first round of Bantam games will be completed by Jan 16, 2010. Based on those standings, the teams will be divided into 2 divisions for the Playoffs which will begin the week of Jan 18. The top 4 teams in each division at the end of the playoffs will play in the MMHL Championship Weekend on March 26-28/2010 at TASA Smith Smith Ice. There will be 2 Championship games.

MIDGET - The first round of Midget games will be completed by Jan 23, 2010. Based on those standings, the teams will be divided into 2 divisions for the Playoffs which will begin Jan 28, 2010. The top 4 teams in each division at the end of the playoffs will play in the MMHL Championship Weekend on March 26-28/2010 at TASA Smith Smith Ice. There will be 2 Championship games.

MINOR JUNIORRegular season ends Tuesday Feb 9th. Playoffs begin Friday Feb 12th

Playoffs consist of a double round robin, all teams playing each other 2 times. Because of 2 ice times conflicting, Sunday @ 8pm and 9pm, not all teams get the same number of home games. This has been happening in the regular season as well.
Playoff round robin finishes Tuesday March 9th.
This gives all teams 1 home time before the Championship game for any makeup games if required.
The 1st and 2nd place team from the double round robin will play Friday March 26th @ TASA for the championship game, 8:00PM.
